Mild Types of Acne

Whiteheads: Whiteheads form when a pore is completely blocked with oil, dead skin, and bacteria. Blackheads: Blackheads form when a pore is only partially blocked with oil, dead skin, and bacteria.

Moderate Types of Acne

Pustules: A pustule is an inflamed whitehead, usually consisting of a yellow to white head color. Papules: A papule is a pustule but without a head. Never pop a papule as it will cause damaging scarring and tissue damage.

I recommend a 2.5% Benzyl Peroxide cream to calm the skin and prevent acne from forming in the first place.

Nodule: A nodule is an extreme version of a papule, characterised as being a large (1-3 cm), hard, and red bump.

Use a gentle acne face wash to keep irritation to a minimum.

For an acne prone face this is a big no-no. See, your fingers produce oil just like your face does, but this oil comes in to contact with a lot more bacteria filled things then your face (keyboards, door handles, etc.) and when you touch your face with these oily fingers it transfers this bacteria filled oil onto your face, causing more acne.

Face acne is a problem that many young teenagers and even adults are forced to deal with for many years. When the tissue is damaged our bodies will produce collagen to send to the damaged area. There are a few different types of face acne scars and each can be identified with what they do to our faces.

Ice Pick Scars

This type of scar can either be deep or shallow and hard or soft.

Depressed Fibrotic Scars

Depressed fibrotic scars are small to tiny craters that will form on the face. The size of this type of scar differs depending on how much tissue on the face has been lost. Most people will have these scars on the cheeks.

Atrophic Macule Scars

These scars can be seen on the face as well as other parts of the body that have been infected by acne.

Deep and Superficial Soft Scars

Deep and superficial soft scars can also vary in their sizes. The edges of these scars are sloped to connect with the normal skin that has been untouched.
