Acne Gels and Lotions – Are They Effective Acne Treatments?
Executive Summary By Hampton Jackson
Acne gels and lotions have recently emerged as two popular forms of acne treatment. Both have been found to be effective in the treatment of back acne, chest acne, and other forms of bodily acne.
Acne lotions can be great for treating facial acne breakouts. It is important to understand that every type of acne-lotion is able to treat acne through the release of chemicals. Popularized types of acne treatment lotion include: Murad Post-Acne, Liquimat, and Burt’s Bees Natural Lotion. All of these lotion-based treatments seem to do a nice job at making the skin look younger and healthier, while fighting acne.
Also, both acne treatment lotions and treatment gels typically require daily usage in order to be effective. With that said, lotions have been found to be less potent than the prescription acne gels.
Most acne lotions and gels blend completely in with your skin and are not noticeable. The fact that acne creams and lotions are unnoticeable after they have been applied to the skin makes them a great treatment method.
For other more mild cases of acne, I suggest going to a local convenience store and rummaging through their anti-acne lotions and gels.
Acne Lotion and Acne Moisturizer – How to Choose One
Executive Summary By Sharyn Sheldon
First, let me explain just what I mean by and acne lotion or acne moisturizer. We can break them into three categories: acne treatment products, lotions that contains an acne treatment as well as moisturizer for oily skin, or acne moisturizers for dry or combination skin. The moisturizers may or may not contain an acne treatment.
Acne lotions are usually meant for oily skin and include a treatment for your acne, such as an antibiotic or exfoliating ingredients. Examples of over-the-counter products include Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion or Murad’s Skin Perfecting Lotion for Acne.
Acne moisturizers do not necessarily contain an acne treatment, but will provide moisture for dry or combination acne prone skin. Look for products that are labeled non-comedogenic and safe for acne-prone skin.
